WICK
A brutally stark image of mental resilience; a woman stands engulfed in flames, her body becoming the wick through which a fire is sustained. She remains still and composed, holding her ground as she burns, undamaged.
WICK explores the human cost of a system that consumes the people who sustain it. Our energy, passions, dreams and abilities become fuel, channelled into labour, taxation and a machinery of perpetual growth. It questions a way of life we have come to accept as natural, and how much of ourselves we surrender simply to exist within it.
Her beauty is deliberate: a testament to the extraordinary strength within humanity, and our capacity to retain dignity amid suffering. This tension between beauty and brutality reflects in Malum’s wider work, which explores human nature and the ways in which we exist, shape and endure world around us.
WICK asks how much a person can give before there is nothing left to burn.

These prints represent the culmination of years spent refining both my artwork and printmaking process, with the goal of creating a collector-grade piece that honours the original work in every detail.
WICK is a personal favourite, the original painting in oil, having sold less than 48 hours after completion. The original, standing just over 6ft tall, resides within the personal collection of a Bloodstock Festival director.
